SO nao inicializa corretamente

Sou novo no Linux, tenho um notebook Acer Aspire, Intel® core TM i3-2348M (2.3 Ghz, 3MB L3), 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, estava utilizando o ubuntu 14.04, rodando bem, de repente começou a apresentar um problema na inicialização a tela ficava piscando, oscilando entre o ícone do ubuntu e estes escritos

Pensei que fosse o sistema e troquei para a versão 14. 10, continuou com o msm problema, então mudei para o Linux Mint (Rebbeca ) e o erro persite, alguém poderia me ajudar...Grato.

Primeiro: o Mint é um derivado do Ubuntu. Se deu problema em um, vai dar o mesmo problema no outro.

Segundo: eu destaquei aí na sua pergunta as duas situações problemáticas do boot. A segunda, e menos importante, é que ele não conseguiu inicializar o serviço de compartilhamento de diretórios na rede, mas isso não tem problema. O grande vilão é o primeiro erro: ele não consegue inicializar a placa de vídeo corretamente. Aí pergunto: qual é a placa de vídeo que você usa?

Antes de prosseguirmos, um teste. No momento em que a tela começar a piscar, aperte <CTRL><ALT><F2>. Veja se ele te joga no modo texto puro (sem o X). Dê o retorno.

Fiz o teste, parou de piscar apareceu rapidamente uma tela igual ao terminal e depois foi pra área de login, porém o touchpad travado.

Não sou perito em hardware, mas isso não parece ser problema do ubuntu ou mint.
Eu levaria notebook para meu técnico confiança checar tudo

Não é hardware não, porque era pra ter ficado na tela preta igual ao terminal. Faz o mesmo teste, variando do <CTRL><ALT><F1> até o <F8> e veja se em pelo menos uma dela fica na tela do terminal. Não era nem por um decreto pra ter voltado pra tela de login!

Fiz todos os testes do F1 ao F8 todos com o mesmo resultado, rapidamente aparece uma tela semelhante a do terminal com o nome do notebook seguido do nome login, após isso é redirecionado para a tela do login com o touthpad travado, quando forço a reinicialização pressionando o botão de liga/desliga as vzs aparece a tela GRU e quando seleciono o mint nessa tela ele inicializa normalmente inclusive com o touch funcionando.

Luís Fernando repeti o teste que vc indicou de outro modo, quando apareceu a tela de login com o touch travado pressionei Ctrl-Alt-F2 e apareceu uma tela como a do terminal com isso:
