Problema no dual boot com ubuntu 13.04 e windows 7 [RESOLVIDO]

Caros amigos,

Sou iniciante no Linux e sinceramente estou com muita dificuldade para resolver o seguinte problema:

Instalei o Ubuntu ju8nto ao windows 7, mas minha máquina não inicia com dual boot, só inicia o windows 7, que diga-se de passagem ja estou pegando raiva dele.

Já tentei várias formas de recuperar o grub seguindo os tutoriais que encontro, mas sempre em vão.

O ultimo que tentei apareceu a seguinte mensagem depois de aplicar os comandos seguindo um certo tutorial:

"ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo mount /dev/sda3 /mnt

INSTALL_DEVICE must be system device filename.

grub-install copies GRUB images into /boot/grub, and uses grub-setup

Quando tentei traduzir o conteudo minha dúvidas aumentaram mais ainda! Fico no aguardo da ajuda de vocês.

Se eu me lembro esse comando não está perfeito
sudo grub-install -root-directory=/mnt/ /dev/sda

deveria ser algo como

sudo grub-install -root-directory=/mnt/boot/grub /dev/sda
ou
sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt/boot/grub /dev/sda

1-recupere o grub do ubuntu usando live-cd ou pendrive

2-reinicie pc >> entre no Ubuntu >> abra terminal >> rode comando: sudo update-grub

3-reinicie pc >> escolha linux ou windows

Aproveitando a pergunta. Estou com um problema parecido, instalei o ubuntu em dual boot com windows 8, instalação certinha, tudo ok, mas quando reinicio ele não me dá a opção de escolher entre o ubuntu e o windows, inicia direto pelo ubuntu.

Alguém tem ideia do que seja?
