Problemas na instalação de programas no ubuntu [RESOLVIDO]

Olá. Eu instalei o Linux Ubuntu e quando tento instalar qualquer programa, na central sempre carrega um pouco e depois diz que não tem conexão com a internet (quando na verdade está) e no terminal diz que é impossível encontrar o pacote, seja de qualquer programa.
tipo assim:
ilipekendy@filipekendy-Lenovo-IdeaPad-G485:~$ sudo apt-get install VLC-Media-Player

O nome do pacote é vlc e você nunca vai ver nomes de pacotes com letra maiuscula.

entendo. foi apenas um exemplo. Mas a questão está no fato de que nada instala, na central de software tudo que eu tentava baixar carregava um pouco e depois dizia que tinha problema de conexão, mesma coisa quando tentava atualizar o software e eu sei que não é problema com internet nem nada. Em suma, ele simplesmente não baixa nada de programa, nem por terminal nem nada, qualquer coisa que tente baixar dá esse problema.

Valeu pessoal e desculpa não ter dito a versão do ubuntu logo de cara, tava meio puto e esqueci eu acho. Valeu o cara que deu a dica de não existir pacotes em letra minuscula tb
