erro apt-get upgrade [RESOLVIDO]

bom dia pessoal...sou novo no linux e ñ sei como resolver este problema....

quando executo o apt-get upgrade aparece a seguinte mensagem:
Lendo listas de pacotes... Erro!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/br.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: As listas de pacotes ou os arquivos de estado não puderam ser analisados ou abertos.

O que faço para resolver este problema?

Acredito que não.
Para executá-lo digite o seguinte no terminal:
sudo apt-get upgrade

Dessa forma você passa a possuir todos os privilégios de super-usuário na execução deste comando.

o comando foi executado como root...tentei tbm usar o sudo su. mas deu a mesma mensagem...

no gerenciador aparece esta mensagem:

Não foi possível inicializar as informações do pacote

Um problema impossível de se resolver ocorreu enquanto inicializava as informações do pacote.

Por favor relate este erro do pacote 'update-manager' e inclua a seguinte mensagem de erro:

'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/br.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-i386_Packages, E:As listas de pacotes ou os arquivos de estado não puderam ser analisados ou abertos.'

e na central de programas ñ consigo pesquisar por nenhum programa.

tenta fazer sudo apt-get update

e depois sudo apt-get upgrade

Estou tentando fazer um apt-get upgrade e o sistema me retorna com dependencias não atendidas (tentei instalar o synaptic pelo dpkg) e agora fiquei nesse circulo vicioso,
Já fiz clen, autoclen, removi arquivos da pasta archives, logs, e nada resolve.
