Ubuntu 11.04 - Monitor Fora de frequencia

Instalei o ubuntu 11.04 e quando inicia fica aparecendo uma mensagem de monitor fora de frequência... como resolver ? o vídeo é onboard chipset nVidia (GeForce 6150SE nForce 430). Monitor LG eletronics 710e instalados os drives recomendados

Aqui na empresa, nas máquinas que apresentaram esse bug, resolvemos assim:

/etc/default
sudo gedit grub

Procure as linhas abaixo:

# Uncomment to disable graphical terminal (grub-pc only)
GRUB_TERMINAL=console (descomente (tire a cerquinha) esta linha)


# you can see them in real GRUB with the command `vbeinfo'
GRUB_GFXMODE=640x480 (descomente esta linha)

Salve o arquivo.
Execute o comando: sudo update-grub

Reinice o computador.

Fiz isso e apareceu :

error: no video mode activade

Abaixo listagem do /etc/default/grub de uma de nossas maquinas.
Não alteramos qualquer outra configuração.

estou tendo o mesmo problema, porém acontece quando eu vou formatar o pc.. :S

alguém ai sabe?
