1. Ubuntu 12.04 travando [RESOLVIDO]

Eae pessoas, blz? antes de mais nada, quero dizer que sou novo no fórum, então me perdoem caso eu esteja fazendo isso da maneira errada. Enfim, vamos ao problema.

Eu sempre fui usuário windows, estava usando o 7 e já estava me dando nos nervos devido aos travamentos, eu não podia deixar ele entrar em modo ocioso que o infeliz já travava, só o mouse funcionava, mas não dava pra clicar em nada.
Então eu comecei a usar o ubuntu, estou usando a última versão em 64bits com um pente de 4GB e dual core 3.0 Ghz. Advinhem só? Ele trava!! :D Antes eu instalei o 32bits mesmo, achei que era por isso e reinstalei usando 64bits. Então comecei a suspeitar que era problema na memória ram; retirei ela, limpei, aproveitei e dei uma limpada nos outros componentes, mas o problema continua. Então eu formatei e reinstalei o mesmo sistema, mas ele continua com essas travadas.
No win, ele o pc só trava em caso de "ociosidade" ou depois de muito tempo ligado, mas no ubuntu não, n ubuntu ele trava a qualquer hora, as vezes quando eu acabo de entrar, ou quando eu abro uma nova aba no navegador (tanto mozila quanto chromium). Eu cheguei a deixar ele assim durante horas, só para ver se ele voltava ao normal, mas não voltou, nem no ubuntu e nem no win. Só para constar, eu procurei ajuda em outros tópicos, mas o problema do pessoal aparenta não ser o mesmo que o meu, já que lá eles conseguiram ajuda e os mesmos passos não deram em nada aqui. Enfim, espero que consigam me ajudar, pq tá difícil desse jeito. Desculpa a redação do enem, boa sorte na resolução desse problema. =]

Bom, claramente o teu problema é de hardware.

De acordo com o que você falou dos travamentos no Windows depois de algum tempo, poderia ser um problema de aquecimento.
Porém, como no Ubuntu isso não acontece, podemos, à princípio, descartar essa possibilidade.

Dá alguma mensagem de erro ou simplesmente trava e daí só reiniciando com o botão de reset?

Verifique o arquivo /var/log/messages:

# cat /var/log/messages | less

Veja se tem alguma mensagem relativa a algum erro. Mas vou avisando, esse arquivo é grande.

Logo após travar, reinicie a máquina e tente também os comandos:

grep failed /var/log/syslog

e

grep error /var/log/syslog

E também

grep failed /var/log/kern.log

e

grep error /var/log/kern.log


E poste aqui o retorno que der nesses greps acima.

E recomendaria fazer um teste na memória com o Memtest.

Bom, claramente o teu problema é de hardware.

De acordo com o que você falou dos travamentos no Windows depois de algum tempo, poderia ser um problema de aquecimento.
Porém, como no Ubuntu isso não acontece, podemos, à princípio, descartar essa possibilidade.

Dá alguma mensagem de erro ou simplesmente trava e daí só reiniciando com o botão de reset?

Verifique o arquivo /var/log/messages:

# cat /var/log/messages | less
...

Então, como eu disse, sou novo no linux e estou aprendendo alguns comandos agora.
Poderia me dizer mais especificamente como eu uso esse comando ai? Tentei com e sem o "sudo" mas não vai.
Em relação ao teste de memória, eu fiz e passou em tudo, não apresentou nenhuma falha. Como eu não usei ele direito desde essa postagem, ele ainda não apresentou o travamento. Aliás, quando ele trava, ele simplesmente trava e não apresenta nenhuma mensagem de erro, a única alternativa que eu tenho é reiniciar pelo próprio botão do gabinete.

Se você executou os comandos e, após o 'enter', o prompt simplesmente "pulou" para baixo não dando retorno nenhum (ficando em branco) é porque os arquivos estão vazios.

Foi isso que aconteceu, ou deu alguma mensagem de erro após você dar 'enter'?

Lembre-se que não vai o símbolo '#' na frente do comando, coloquei ele somente para visualizar o prompt. Você deve digitar direto cat /var/log/messages | less.
O 'less' serve para pausar o arquivo para você poder navegar por ele com as setas de direção do teclado.
Para sair, após o comando cat, digite a tecla 'q'.

E os comandos grep você também deve digitar direto, porém não precisa digitar nada para sair. Ele mostra o conteúdo do arquivo e sai automaticamente.

cat /var/log/messages | less (não apresenta nenhuma mensagem de erro, apenas mostra várias linhas com um ~)

Arquivo binário /var/log/kern.log coincide com o padrão

o outro comando que é para syslog, não acontece nada. Tudo procede?

Bom neste caso use o comando dmesg e poste a saída gigantesca dele aqui :(

E também como o memset não acusou nada presumo eu que seja problema de placa de vídeo (mesmo se for onboard, alias essas sim dão mais problemas com o tempo, pelo desgaste mesmo). Também pode ser problemas de aquecimento (tanto de processador, memória ou mesmo a placa de vídeo).

Em relação a temperatura, eu usei 2 programas no windows para fazer o teste e ambos apresentaram temperaturas boas. Eu não achei o suporte desses softwares para ubuntu, então usei o "sensors" mesmo. Segue abaixo, o resultado.

~toc-toc~ Percebi que não foi dado continuidade no post, então estive procurando um jeito de resolver mesmo assim. Pois então, a parte do windows, eu resolvi simplesmente formatando ele e reinstalando, já que nada do que eu fizesse teve efeito. Já a parte do ubuntu, eu percebi que o chrome estava usando em torno de 108% do meu processador, então eu desinstalei ele e passei a usar o Mozilla. PRONTO! Parou de travar.
Além disso, antes de fazer tudo isso, eu fiz um teste na fonte usando um multímetro e tudo estava ok, assim como eu fiz uma limpeza geral dos componentes internos, memória, socket, troquei pasta térmica, limpei toda a sujeira que tinha no cooler, enfim, deixei brilhando. Então é isso, obrigado a todos que tentaram.

Então bro, foi o que eu disse. Eu usei o MEMtest para verificar a memória e deu tudo OK. Só adiantando, eu também procurei por BADBLOCKS com medo de ser o meu HD indo pro "saco", mas felizmente não foi encontrado nada.
