Drive de vídeo com baixa resolução

Depois que troca de NVidia p/ Nouveau, pelo painel de drivers adicionais, meu PC fica com resolução baixa e as opções de troca de resolução ficam indisponíveis, nas configurações do monitor.
Alguém tem alguma sugestão?

veja se tem algum arquivo xorg.conf em /etc/X11/xorg.conf ou em /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/xorg.conf
e posta o conteúdo dele aqui.

Minha dúvida era se o nouveau estava no xorg.conf, mas está.

eu tentaria duas coisas...

1) colocar o driver proprietário NVIDIA no blacklist, editando o arquivo /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

2) tentar forçar, num teste de boot, o uso do nouveau.
Liga o micro, não deixa entrar o linux, bem rapido aperta e (a tecla E), edita a linha do boot do kernel e coloca isto:

module.blacklist-nvidia xdriver-nouveau 

ai aperta a tecla de boot do kernel. Em Sabayon é a F10. Acho que em outros linux também.
Nesse teste, isso não muda nada, altera só esse boot.

se funcionar, com cuidado pode editar o arquivo do grub, e colocar as linhas no boot do kernel.

Curiosamente, no Sabayon Linux, o padrão é o nouveau e ele funciona bem e direto. já NVIDIA, só versões antigas funcionam em xorg e kernel novos.

Agora, penso como o Marcelo. Se o NVIDIA estava funcionando bem, não tem porque trocar.
