HP Video onboard

Meu computador antigo (HP Vectra 5/233mz) com video on board S3 Trio 64V2 só da a resolução de 640X480.já tentei resolver pela comfiguração de tela . cada vez que mudo drivers ou monitor da configuração que não tem como testar e reinicio o computador ele volta igual ou com tela preta ou trava a abertura,(por isso já reinstalei meu Kubuntu umas 10 veses em 2 meses) Não tenho placa externa PCI,especialmente a SIS 5597 como apareçe no xorg.conf. Meu monitor de 14" sem especificação sempre funcionou normar com todas as resoluções no XP, já procurei varios tutoriais e não dá certo. Será que tem solução?No konsole quando digito #cd/etc/x11/ retorna como arquivo ou diretório inexistente, mas quando eu abro a pasta raiz, está lá.Estou usando o Kubuntu 6.06 Abaixo segue a comfiguração original do xorg.comfi

Se alguem puder me ajudar, ficarei grato pois está tudo funcionando legal, só preciso de resolução maior, ao menos 800X600 e não sei como fazer!!!
