Abra um terminal e digite:

Posta as linhas do VGA compatible controller e do Display controller.
Quanto ao Ubuntu 14.04 X64, tenho um instalado no note da minha esposa e está super estável.

Quanto ao desktop da empresa (com Ubuntu) apresenta outro problema além do que postei: Quando peço para abrir pastas do calc (uso basicamente calc), o Libreoffice pede para iniciar recuperação, mas quando peço para recuperar, indica falha na recuperação, mas o arquivo está lá, inteiro, salvo!
