YUM :: Mais recursos e mais servidores
Para quem estiver usando o yum, aí vai uma boa dica na hora de
procurar softwares. Muitas vezes encontramos um pacote com um
nome pouco familiar ou então queremos saber o que faz determinado
software. O yum permite que possamos ver a descrição dos
pacotes antes de instalá-los. É bastante simples. Veja o exemplo:
OBS: As dicas à seguir se aplicam ao Fedora Core 1.
Dica 1:
$ yum search gaim*
Mostrará todos os pacotes que começam com a palavra gaim.
Dica 2:
$ yum info gaim*
Deverá aparecer algo semelhante a isso:

Este comando mostra as informações de cada pacote disponível e também se já estão instalados ou não.
Dica 3:
Este é um outro servidor de yum que encontrei que também tem bastante coisa. Adicione o trecho a seguir em seu yum.conf:
