assim:

s1:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -L ttyACM0 9600 vt100 

Salve o arquivo e execute:

# init q

Agora novamente no servidor execute:

$ ps -ef | grep agetty

Poste a saída desse comando. Ah, qual o modelo do teu modem?

funcionando com o drive q baixei do site http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/
Baixei o pacote DGC e compilei conforme o indicado pelo site.

Cara, se você fez as alterações no inittab, era pra essa linha também ser listada pelo 'ps':

... /sbin/agetty -L ttyACM0 9600 vt100

passando o comando ps -ef | grep ttyACM0

porém passando o comando direto, as vezes ele aparece, pelo q pude perceber o agetty esta parando e o respawn dentro do inittab esta restartando o comando q em seguida morre(missa dq a 7 dias).

Amigo, é o seguinte, montei algo parecido em 2002 (faz muito tempo entao lembro de algumas coisas só), na epoca eu usei a distribuição conectiva 10, o Radius basicamente serve pra voce autenticar os teus users com o Radius voce centraliza a autenticacao em um servidor podendo usar varios servidores com "modens" que irão direcionar a autenticacao para o seu servidor RADIUS, o mgetty serve para gerenciar o modem ou modens no servidor que sera o atendedor (na epoca eu chegeui a ter 3 modens em cada server porque saia mais barato do que comprar um portmaster) vai definir ip, gateway, dns ..etc etc é o ppp, é importante tambem que voce tenha os servicos de dns e dhcp instalados no mesmo server.
